Pinnacle and Worldpay deliver chip card certification to Palm POS Solution

The Pinnacle Corporation and Worldpay team to enhance the security of Pinnacle’s Palm POS solution through chip card certification for petroleum merchants.

Arlington, Texas, June 8, 2017– The Pinnacle Corporation (Pinnacle), a leader in mobile, loyalty and point-of-sale integration solutions for retail convenience stores, and Worldpay, a leading provider of electronic payment solutions, today announced they have jointly completed and certified the integration between the Pinnacle Palm POS™ and Worldpay payment processing host; the combined solution is now compliant with EMV®, the global standard for credit payment cards using chip card technology.

“The completion of this certification effort with Worldpay means that the fully integrated Palm POS solution will give retailers one of the highest levels of protection available against card-present data fraud by accepting chip cards,” said Melissa Fox Hadley, Director of Product Management, The Pinnacle Corporation. “We are thrilled to work with Worldpay to offer our POS clients a safer, more secure payment method, while also reducing those retailers’ fraud liability exposure.”

The certification of Pinnacle’s Palm POS with Worldpay helps to greatly reduce the liability faced by petroleum retailers when accepting chip cards for indoor transactions. Now equipped with a high level of protection against card-present chip card fraud, Pinnacle merchant partners can operate without the lingering worry of being left vulnerable to the increased fraud risk resulting from the liability shift surrounding card-present chip card transactions.

The long-standing, collaborative history between Pinnacle and Worldpay laid the foundation for the payment processor to team with Pinnacle in certifying Palm POS for chip card acceptance. Worldpay’s customer-centric focus aligns strategically with Pinnacle’s desire to address client needs related to chip card certification quickly and thoroughly.

“Pinnacle is dedicated to serving convenience store and petroleum merchants, which are markets that remain a top focus for Worldpay,” said Holly Fengler, VP Corporate Business Unit Client Relations, Worldpay US. “Through this collaboration we will continue to grow and continue to deliver exceptional value in the marketplace.

Merchants can leverage the Pinnacle Palm POS with existing hardware and various back office systems to help keep pace with ever-evolving regulatory mandates and enhancements, such as the liability shift surrounding chip card transactions. The solution is flexible enough to deliver a tailored payment experience across various POS environments, yet strong enough to ensure that these environments are better safeguarded against increasing fraud threats while adhering to a complex nature of regulatory compliance.

Pinnacle’s Palm POS with Worldpay is currently in production with chip card-approved Ingenico PIN pads.

Pinnacle and Lynch Oil launch the Mr. Gas Consumer Mobile App

Arlington, Texas – The Pinnacle Corporation (www.pinncorp.com), the leader in mobile, loyalty and point-of-sale integration solutions for retail convenience stores, and Lynch Oil (www.lynchoilinc.com ) announced today the launch of the new Mr. Gas consumer facing mobile app for customers located in the Burley, Idaho area.

Several years ago, Lynch Oil deployed Pinnacle’s fully integrated Palm POS and Loyalty Rewards suite of products. As their loyalty program grew more and more successful, Lynch looked for ways to extend offers and promotions to their consumers via mobile -driving traffic, increasing spend, and communicating with them in the most effective way possible. With their Mr. Gas mobile app, built on the Pinnacle Affiniti mobile platform, Lynch Oil is able to influence their consumers’ behavior and drive store traffic in ways they had not been able before.

“Today’s consumers keep their mobile phones closer to their hand than the wallet that holds their cards.  Offering a mobile app to our customers allows us to offer convenience before they even walk in the store,” says Nick Lynch, President of Triple S Oil/Lynch Oil. “Consumers will be able to sign up for loyalty rewards directly through the app. They’ll also get promo offers, updates on pricing, and they’ll be able to check their loyalty points balance including their status on their club punches.  We are looking forward to the new opportunities that our Mr. Gas mobile app offers our business and our customers.”

The Lynch Oil Mr. Gas mobile app provides consumers with a map of stores and gas prices, allowing them to select their favorites to display on the home screen. Consumers can pay for merchandise and fuel from the app as well, making it fast and easy to complete purchases and be on their way. The Mr. Gas app also stores electronic receipts and receives notifications of new offers, displaying those offers and other deals as well as club card program status and points balances.

“The roll-out by Lynch Oil of their Mr. Gas mobile application is an exciting milestone for us and we could not be more pleased to have worked with the Lynch team. Pinnacle is able to offer a suite of loyalty solutions, fully integrated with Pinnacle POS and Affiniti Mobile, to achieve the ultimate consumer experience- ensuring that retailers have the tools in hand to increase customer loyalty and drive store profits,” said Melissa Fox Hadley, Director of Product Management at Pinnacle.

Bluefin Payment Systems & Pinnacle Corporation Announce Partnership for PCI-Validated P2PE

Pinnacle clients can get the security and cost savings of PCI-validated P2PE through Pinnacle’s Palm POS™ platform, with no change to their acquiring or processing relationship with NBS

Atlanta, GA and Arlington, TX – Bluefin Payment Systems and The Pinnacle Corporation (Pinnacle), the leading supplier of technology automation solutions for retail convenience stores and fuel inventory management, today announced a partnership to provide Bluefin’s PCI-validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) solution through Pinnacle’s Palm POS™ platform.

Pinnacle provides leading-edge point of sale, loyalty, and both corporate and consumer facing mobile technology to the retail convenience store and fuel inventory management industries. Pinnacle’s products and services are used daily in thousands of convenience outlets to improve their store operations and extend the brand of retailers through the growing mobile landscape.

Bluefin is the leading provider of PCI-validated P2PE integrated and stand-alone solutions for point of sale, mobile, call center and kiosk/unattended environments in the education, fuel, healthcare and retail industries.  Bluefin’s PCI-validated P2PE solution secures card transactions by encrypting all data within a PCI-approved point of entry swipe or keypad device, preventing clear-text cardholder data from being available while it’s in the merchant’s system or in-transit to the processing host where it could be exposed to malware.

“There is a tremendous demand for PCI-validated P2PE solutions in the convenience store and fuel industries,” said Denise Lewis, POS and Payments Product Manager at Pinnacle. “Our clients understand the importance of encryption in securing their customer’s credit and debit card transactions. While EMV protects the card itself from duplication, it does not encrypt the data flowing from the card. Bluefin’s solution devalues card data, while possibly providing significant PCI scope reduction and cost benefits.”

Bluefin’s PCI P2PE solution is available through Pinnacles’ Palm POS touch screen point-of-sale system. Designed and developed specifically for the convenience petroleum industry, Palm POS is highly configurable and provides the flexibility to work within any infrastructure and with a variety of peripherals. Clients currently utilizing Palm POS 12.5.x can get the validated P2PE solution with no changes to their processing or transaction environment required.

“No industry is immune to data breaches, even those that you would not think of as typical retail establishments, such as fuel management,” said Greg Cornwell, SVP of Security Solutions for Bluefin. “Card data is card data to hackers and that is why technologies such as PCI-validated P2PE are very important to every industry. We applaud Pinnacle for recognizing the benefits of PCI-validated P2PE for their clients and offering our solution through their Palm POS platform.”

Benefits of a PCI-validated P2PE solution for merchants include reduced PCI compliance and scope, saving time and money on annual audits, and the assurance that the technology has been vetted and approved by the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC). A white paper on the cost and scope benefits of PCI-validated P2PE is available for download on http://www.bluefin.com/.
